ABOUT:

"Conficious once said that a woman has no way of independence through life. When she is young, she obeys her father; when she is married, she obeys her husband; when she is widowed, she obeys her son.  It seems rather unfair."

Shourin, at a glance seems to be a rather pensive, yet easygoing person. More often than not, she carries herself with a very calm, collected, and occasionally, fatigued air. Though she doesn't dislike conversation, she seems to spend more time listening than speaking. When she does speak, she speaks well and has her fair share of feminine charm despite her having a rather masculine profession. Generally, people think that she is more thoughtful than she actually is, particularly because she often appears to be pondering the finer wonders of the universe when in actuality, she has a bad habit of falling asleep while standing up with her arms folded.  It is said that the reason for this is that she has rather low blood pressure.  She also dislikes mornings quite a lot and will often threaten bodily harm to those who dare to wake her up.  If the thing that wakes her up is not a human, something will probably wind up being destroyed within the next five minutes.  Like water, she usually adapts to the situation and if she feels it is necessary, can lower the tension in stressful situations.  At heart, Shourin is more altruistic than not. If there was one thing that Shourin would not compromise, it would be her ingrained sense of what is right and wrong. Shourin cannot accept a situation that she deems is unjust or not right.  On several occasions, she has gone out of her way to correct a situation that she felt was unfair or unjust, even if it didn't necessarily benefit her.  In fact, many of these situations have caused her a great deal of trouble.  Though she does try to correct unfair situations using diplomacy first, she is not unwilling to use a bit of force in order to finish her tasks.

Even if her birth was noble, she chose to break more than a few rules of society.  A major one was not allowing herself to simply be married off as most women were made to do at that time.  Another was picking up a blade.  She carries a daishou with her and is capable of utilising both swords in the set simultaneously (though both swords were made to be a bit shorter than a usual katana and wakizashi to lighten their weight).  Her combat style is like waves; she can seamlessly switch between offensive and defensive combat.  She is not particularly strong, so she relies heavily on her agility and ability in order to get in quick strikes.  After a battle, she will often recite haikus as some sort of poetic gesture.

It is rare to find her out and about without her right-hand-man, a rather lively person named Masazumi Hojo.  One would think that he, being a man of fire, and her, being more like water, wouldn't get along very well.  Though they seem to be opposites, they get along very well.  She actually cares for him quite deeply, but she tends to show this in small ways.  His seemingly boundless energy is something she finds endearing and at times, inspiring.  The two of them share a common love for justice, and together, they are absolutely not afraid to get that point across.  She trusts him more than anyone in the world, and it is rare to see one without the other.  If the two are ever separated for more than five minutes, it's usually a good indication that something has probably gone terribly, terribly wrong.
