HISTORY:
Azrael is as old as time itself. Because of this, most of his history is more legend and fable than fact.
Azrael is one of the legendary angels of death, and as such, he is as old as life itself. Though he isn't responsible for choosing who gets to live or die, he is responsible for keeping records of all the lives created and lost over time, and moreover, he is responsible for helping people transition into death when their time has come. He carries a book to keep his records as well as a scythe covered with constantly blinking eyes. It is said that each time one of the eyes blinks a person has died.
Though he is the most well-known angel of death, he has been said to work alongside Bebriel, Metatron, Sammael, Hemah, and Adriel.
PERSONALITY AND QUIRKS:
Azrael is impartial, dispassionate, fair, and dutiful, and all of these character traits are necessary in his profession. That said, he cares deeply for his colleagues: Adriel, Bebriel, Metatron, Samael, and Hemah are the closest thing to a family that Azrael has. Still, Azrael does not normally show this caring side to him very often. In fact, he does not normally show any sort of emotion whatsoever, and simply getting his face to portray anything but neutrality is an accomplishment in and of itself.
Though Azrael is usually clad in black, he doesn't prefer any color over another, and feels that they all have their good and bad points. He is neutral about almost everything.
Though Metatron, being a very high-ranking angel, often tries to force his superiority upon Azrael and the others, these efforts often go largely unnoticed by Azrael due to his general lack of interest of everything. Because of this, Metatron feels that Azrael is disrespectful and irritating, but Azrael doesn't really notice this either.
